Decorating With Color
The most important part of home decorating is choosing what colors will guide your overall décor. Not only does decorating in pops of color make your house “homier” or lived in, but it can also create an illusion of making a space seem larger or smaller.
With so many paint colors and finishes to choose from, selecting colors for your home can seem overwhelming.
Here are some tips for picking a color scheme.
*Choose your favorite colors and use them throughout a room. You live there; it should be filled with what you love, including your favored hues.
* Pick a classic color combination; think yellow and blue, red and brown, blue and green.
*Focus a room’s color scheme around shades of a throw pillow, piece of art, or window treatments.
*Pick an area rug and decorate with colors prominent in the pattern.
*An accent wall featuring premium wallpaper will make a bold and beautiful statement in your dining room, formal living room or foyer. Coordinate your colors in that area with the hues in the artwork.
An easy and inexpensive way to dramatically change a room’s feel is by painting the walls and ceiling. Decorating with colors that are neutral, such as white, beige and black, can create a sophisticated, peaceful look. Warm colors - reds, oranges, yellows and light green - have different effects on a room than cool colors - darker greens and bluess. Go with what makes you happy and you’ll never go wrong!
